Mike Berube / Downturn

In the midst of global recession, widespread poverty has impacted rural parts of Canada affected by the layoffs and factory closures, forcing many to be evicted from their homes and factories to close. This project looks at the impact of the current economic climate.

Mike Berube grew up in Toronto where he established himself as a photographer. His work has been exhibited and published globally, with recognition from the Ian Parry Scholarship where his work was exhibited at the Getty Gallery in London. Mike’s work often deals with the consequences of social or economic conflicts.

He is the author of one book: the dead can dance, published in 2009.
